Field service software that keeps working through load shedding
Omni Field's field app is offline tolerant, which is the honest term: job cards opened before the signal dropped can be completed with photos, tasks, parts, time and a signature, held in a sync queue and sent when coverage returns. It does not fetch new jobs or send customer messages while disconnected, and it is not a fully offline database.

What load shedding does to field work
A two-hour outage takes down some cell towers along with the customer's Wi-Fi, so the technician on site loses both power and signal at the same time. Paper carries on. Cloud software carries on only if it was built to hold work on the phone and catch up later, and vendors describe that ability in language that ranges from precise to generous.
What the Omni Field app does with no connection
Jobs the technician has already opened stay on the phone. They can complete the card: tick tasks, add photos and notes, record parts and time, and collect the customer's signature. Everything captured is held in a sync queue. Clock-in and clock-out are recorded and checked against the site geofence when the record syncs.
When the signal returns the queue sends in the background and the office sees the completed card, the photos and the signature. Nothing is lost if the phone is closed in between; the queue persists until it has sent.
What it does not do, stated plainly
It does not download jobs it has not seen. It does not send a WhatsApp or an email to the customer while disconnected; those go when the connection returns. It does not take a card payment without a connection. It is not a full local copy of the database, and we do not describe it as one. The working pattern is to open the day's jobs while connected and let the app catch up between sites.
The office side during an outage
The office runs in a browser and needs a connection, as any cloud product does. What helps is that nothing waits on the office: the technician's card syncs when the technician has signal, whether or not the office is online at that moment, and the schedule is already on each phone for the day.
