SAQCC Gas (gas practitioner registration)

SAQCC Gas is the South African Qualification and Certification Committee for Gas, the body appointed under the Pressure Equipment Regulations to register gas practitioners. Only a registered practitioner in the matching category may issue the certificate of conformity that a gas installation needs on completion and that a property with a gas installation needs on transfer.

Categories of registration

Practitioners register in a category and class that matches the work: domestic or commercial liquefied petroleum gas, natural gas, compressed natural gas and refrigeration. The registration number appears on every certificate and can be checked on the register.

The certificate of conformity

Required on completion of a new installation, after any alteration, and on transfer of a property with a gas installation, alongside the electrical certificate. Paper certificate books were withdrawn in favour of an electronic certificate, so a certificate is checked on the register rather than judged by its form. LPG installations follow SANS 10087-1.

Keeping the records

Omni Field attaches the certificate and the photographs of the installation to the job card against the address, sends the copy to the client from the job, tracks each practitioner's registration and expiry, and runs annual inspections and cylinder exchanges as recurring jobs.
