Geyser certificate of compliance

A geyser certificate of compliance is the plumbing certificate a PIRB-registered plumber issues after installing or replacing a fixed electric storage water heater under SANS 10254. It records the installer, the address, the unit and the safety components fitted: pressure control valve, safety valve, vacuum breakers, drip tray and drain line. Insurers ask for it on geyser claims.

When it is issued

On any new geyser, a geyser moved to a new position, or a replacement after a burst. The certificate is logged with the PIRB against the plumber's registration number, which is what gives it weight with an insurer.

What the insurer wants with it

The plumber's PIRB number, the certificate, photographs of the old unit showing the failure and of the new one showing the safety components, and a tax invoice with the plumber's VAT number. A missing item is a query and a delay to payment.

Capturing it on site

Omni Field puts the photographs, the certificate and the invoice on one job card against the client and the address, so the claim file can be sent to the assessor from the van rather than assembled later from a phone gallery and a paper book.
